As the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle is no stranger to the royal treasure trove of jewels. But, during the month of October, the 38-year-old duchess seems to have developed a penchant for wearing jewel tones. From emerald royal re-wears to garnet sweaters, Markle has us lusting after winter’s hottest trend: jewel tones. Here, three of Markle’s jewel-inspired outfits and how to create the look yourself.
1. Elegant in Emerald Green
Markle’s jewel-tone reign began when she paired her now iconic Parosh engagement announcement dress (yep, this was a royal re-wear) with a beige Sentaler coat ($1,795) draped over her shoulders, camel-colored suede Manolo Blahnik “BB” pumps ( $665) and a Montunas Guaria mini orchid-print silk handle box bag ($435). Sadly, her purse, like her Parosh dress, is now sold out. But the chic handbag is still available (and even on sale) in different colors. If you’re looking for a dupe of her emerald dress, go for Calvin Klein’s scuba dress ($90), BB Dakota’s as you pleats knit dress ($98) or Donna Morgan’s bell sleeve velvet frock ($118).
2. Utter Perfection in Purple
Taking a cue from Queen Elizabeth (the brightest dresser of them all), the Duchess of Sussex attended the One Young World Summit in a vibrant purple Aritzia midi dress and navy Manolo Blahnik BB pointy toe pumps ($695). Thanks to the Markle effect, both items are sold out. But, her Manolos are still available in a lighter shade of blue and Kate Spade’s bell sleeve dress ($198) and Isabel Marant’s yescott asymentrical hem dress ($695) are pretty similar to Markle’s frock.
3. Gorgeous in Garnet
Further proof Markle isn’t a regular royal, but a cool royal came when she selected a lambskin BOSS pencil skirt ($474) for a roundtable discussion about gender equality at Windsor castle. She completed the outfit with a garnet colored V-neck sweater and her go-to Sarah Flint Perfect pumps ($355) in cabernet suede. Although it’s not clear who makes her sweater, the 1901 merino wool V-neck in red rhubarb ($79) is a close comparison.
