Meghan Markle Stepped Out in the Same Dress that Prince Harry's Ex-Girlfriend Wore a Month Ago

With her first royal tour officially underway, Meghan Markle has slipped on a number of stylish ensembles.

While she may be known for inspiring other women's wardrobe choices (hello, the Meghan Markle effect), it appears that she gained some fashion inspiration of her own from an unlikely source: Prince Harry's ex-girlfriend Jenna Coleman.

On Friday, the pregnant Duchess of Sussex opened the ANZAC Memorial to kick off the 2018 Invictus Games in Sydney alongside her husband, wearing a black Emilia Wickstead shirtdress that hit right above her ankles.

The button-front midi was originally worn in white by Harry's ex last month, as she attended a polo match.

Though the dress is the same, the two ladies accessorized very differently. Meghan added a layer of sophistication with a Philip Treacy hat, classic pumps, and a boxy clutch.

Meanwhile, Coleman, who briefly dated Prince Harry in June 2015, kept it casual with black peep-toe sandals and a circular tote.

In September, Harry and Meghan had an unexpected run-in with Coleman at the Soho House opening in Amsterdam. “Harry had to walk straight past Jenna to get to his and Meghan’s table,” a witness told Vanity Fair's royal correspondent Katie Nicholl. “It was pretty awkward and some of the other guests were commenting on it. Jenna looked down while Harry looked straight ahead, while Meghan didn’t seem to notice.

The source continued: "She sat through breakfast with a smile on her face, but Harry looked a bit uncomfortable. He’d been super friendly saying hi to everyone, but he didn’t even acknowledge Jenna.”
