Meghan may be transitioning out of her position as a senior member of the royal family, but that doesn't mean she's abandoning her patronages.

Today, the Sussex Royal Instagram account shared a few never-before-seen photos of Meghan's private visit to Mayhew, an animal welfare charity, from earlier this month, before she left the UK.

In the pictures, the duchess can be seen wearing a black wrap coat, with what appears to be a light blue collared shirt and a simple bracelet.

"Earlier this month, The Duchess of Sussex popped in to see the amazing people at Mayhew to hear about the incredible progress made throughout the festive period," reads the caption.

"The Duchess of Sussex, having been proud patron of Mayhew since January 2019 and long understanding the connection between animal and community welfare, applauds the people at Mayhew for the vital work that they do every day."

In the Sussexes' initial statement announcing their decision to step back from being working royals, the couple shared their intended plan to continue working with their patronages.

As that statement was not approved by the Queen or other members of the royal family before it was made public, several things have since changed about Harry and Meghan's role moving forward. (Notably, they will not use their HRH titles, and will not formally represent the monarch.)

But their continued commitment to charity work (and specifically to the Sussexes' existing patronages) was affirmed in a statement released by Buckingham Palace this weekend.

"With The Queen’s blessing, the Sussexes will continue to maintain their private patronages and associations," reads the statement. "While they can no longer formally represent The Queen, the Sussexes have made clear that everything they do will continue to uphold the values of Her Majesty."

Meghan announced her patronage of Mayhew last January, but as she and Harry have moved to North America, at least part-time, and Mayhew is UK-based, it's unclear when she might visit the organization in person next.
