Meghan Markle Reportedly Does Yoga to Help Her Pregnancy-Related Exhaustion

She said the pain from pregnancy was comparable to jet lag.

Only a few days into their 16-day royal tour of Australia and other nearby Commonwealth countries, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are likely still feeling the 10-hour time difference from their home in London. Add to that Markle's pregnancy and a jam-packed schedule leaving the duo staying in a new place every few nights, and you've got a recipe for zero sleep for the next two weeks.

On Friday, while she and Prince Harry spent time talking about mental health on Sydney's Bondi Beach, Markle reportedly confirmed that she has, indeed, been up at odd hours this week, but she shared her strategy for pushing through the exhaustion.

Charlotte Connell, a member of the OneWave surfing community that prioritizes mental health and wellbeing, told Sky News that she and Meghan had discussed their concurrent pregnancies on the beach on Friday.

"Meghan told me that pregnancy was like having jet lag," Connell revealed. "She said she was up at 4:30 a.m. this morning doing yoga in her room, as she couldn't sleep." Connell spoke further about Markle's love of yoga to the Associated Press, reporting that the Duchess of Sussex had told her "it's so good for healing her mind."

The conversation took place while Prince Harry and Markle reportedly participated in OneWave's weekly "anti-bad vibe circle," during which they candidly discuss their mental health issues in between surfing and yoga sessions. For his part, Harry spoke to the group about his own decision to seek counseling after the death of his mother. "Each and every one of us will experience poor mental health, it doesn't discriminate," he said, according to Sky News.

Markle, whose mom, Doria Ragland, is a yoga instructor in their home state of California, has previously opened up about her love of yoga, People reports. In a 2016 cover story for Canada's Best Health magazine, the now-Duchess noted that she'd been practicing yoga for almost her entire life.

"Yoga is my thing. My mom is a yoga instructor, and I started doing mommy-and-me yoga with her when I was seven. I was very resistant as a kid, but she said, 'Flower, you will find your practice — just give it time,'" Markle said, adding, "In college, I started doing it more regularly."
