Meghan Markle resurfaces in purple dress she wore during her pregnancy
According to a new documentary, Meghan Markle has struggled to adopt a British “stiff upper lip” in the face of media scrutiny. But on Tuesday, the duchess put her best foot forward as she went solo for a royal engagement in London.
The new mom was all smiles as she appeared at the One Young World Summit Opening Ceremony at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The former actress wore her glossy locks in loose waves and made a bold statement in a purple dress — one that fans may recall from her pregnancy. Meghan previously wore the long-sleeved number, plum-hued number from Babaton by Aritizia when she and husband Prince Harry visited Birkenhead, England on Jan. 14, when she was about six months pregnant with son Archie.
The baby bump may be gone, but the Babaton Maxwell dress — a steal at $138 before it, alas, sold out — is doing double duty quite nicely. In January, Meghan paired it with a cherry-red coat and brown leather handbag. This time around, she’s ditched the outerwear and added navy suede BB heels from Manolo Blahnik.
Meghan’s latest appearance comes just days after the U.K. release of a documentary — which will air on ABC on Oct. 23 — saw her baring her soul about feeling “really vulnerable” as a new mom, newlywed and topic of public fascination.
“Not many people have asked if I’m OK,” she told journalist Tom Bradby. “But it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”
