Meghan Markle Pursues Legal Action over Paparazzi Photos with Archie

From Harper's BAZAAR

  • The Duchess of Sussex has taken legal action over released paparazzi photos of her hiking with her son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, and two dogs in Canada.

  • Official documents seen by BAZAAR.com state that both Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are alarmed by the paparazzi activity and that the photos are a complete breach of their rights.

Meghan Markle is unwaveringly serious when it comes to her and her family’s privacy.

The Duchess of Sussex was spotted looking blissfully unbothered while hiking in Canada yesterday, but was not pleased when leaked paparazzi shots of her and baby Archie Mountbatten-Windsor quickly began to cover tabloids. BAZAAR.com has seen official documents from the Sussexes’ U.K.–based legal team where the photos are described as a blatant breach of the duchess’s rights. The document continues on to express that both Prince Harry and Meghan are alarmed regarding the recent paparazzi activity.

The duchess was seen in the photographs with her eight-month-old son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, and two pet dogs in tow. At the time of the photos being released, Harry was on his way back to Meghan and Archie after two weeks away in London completing the last of his royal engagements. He has since touched down in Canada.

Over the weekend, discussions between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family came to a peaceful conclusion, with the queen releasing a statement announcing her acceptance of the couple’s decision to step down from royal life.

Harry spoke out regarding his and Meghan’s decision during an event honoring his charity, Sentebale, hosted by The Caring Foundation.

“The decision that I have made for my wife and I to step back is not one I made lightly. It was so many months of talks after so many years of challenges,” said Harry. “And I know I haven’t always gotten it right, but as far as this goes, there really was no other option.”

Harry continued, “I’ve accepted this, knowing that it doesn’t change who I am or how committed I am. But I hope that helps you understand what it had to come to, that I would step my family back from all I have ever known to take a step forward into what I hope can be a more peaceful life.”
