  • Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were sent a racist letter with an unidentified substance months before their wedding.

  • Because of this, Meghan had to undergo intense security training before becoming a royal.

If you're wondering why Meghan Markle reportedly felt "unprotected" by the royal family when her court documents dropped last month, we finally have a clear reason as to why: According to an excerpt from Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand's Finding Freedom, Meghan and Prince Harry were sent a frightening letter a few months ahead of their wedding that contained an "unidentified white powder" and numerous "racist musings."

Thankfully, Meghan and Harry's security team intercepted the letter and found the powder to be harmless, but Meghan and Harry were reportedly so shaken that they couldn't sleep soundly that night. Unfortunately, Meghan and Harry "received an unusually high number of threats" leading up to their wedding, which is probs why Meghan has to undergo a super intense royal training program that involved her taking part in a "staged kidnapping" that included "terrorists" throwing her into the back of a vehicle, as well as learning how to "develop a relationship with the enemy" and "drive a car while in pursuit."

While Meghan was grateful to have the training, she still found the entire thing to be "extremely intense and scary." (Can you blame her, tho??) And as good as that training was, it didn't prepare for the level of emotional distress she went through because of the tabloids. Court documents from her Mail on Sunday case said:

“[Meghan Markle] had become the subject of a large number of false and damaging articles by the UK tabloid media, specifically by the [Mail on Sunday], which caused tremendous emotional distress and damage to her mental health,” the documents read. “As her friends had never seen her in this state before, they were rightly concerned for her welfare, specifically as she was pregnant, unprotected by the Institution, and prohibited from defending herself.”

Sincerely hoping that Meghan and Harry are experiencing a better quality of life now that they're living under the radar in America!
