They may have officially said goodbye to their titles in March, but Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are putting the finishing touches on their departure from royal life. The day has come for the couple to formally close down their charity, SussexRoyal.
According to People, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have filed all of the relevant paperwork with the authorities in the U.K. Per the outlet, the organization has entered a phase of “solvent liquidation,” in which all of the trustees will step down from their posts. Harry, however, will remain the Director and Trustee throughout the remainder of the liquidation process.
A source close to the duo said, “The Duke and Duchess remain incredibly grateful for the support and guidance the [SussexRoyal] trustees have given during this period.” We guess this is really the end.
ICYMI: Meghan and Harry’s agreement with Queen Elizabeth requires that the two no longer use the word “royal” in any of their future endeavors. They officially shut down the SussexRoyal Instagram account at the end of March. Since starting their new life in Los Angeles, they have been working on building their latest foundation, Archewell.
And while foundation details are still scarce, according to paperwork filed, the multifaceted plan will include emotional support groups, a multi-media educational component and even a well-being website. The couple will also be setting up their own charity and producing educational films, podcasts and books.
Goodbye, SussexRoyal. Hello, Archewell.
