Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just released a rare statement in honor of their two children, Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2.

Today, the Duke, 39, and Duchess of Sussex, 42, broke their silence following the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee's hearing about online safety for kids. The royal couple released the statement on the Archewell Foundation’s website, where they applauded the Senate—and more importantly, parents—for taking action.

“We applaud the bravery and determination of the thousands of parents around the country whose advocacy resulted in this hearing,” they wrote.

Prince Harry and Markle also mentioned the families they’ve met through the Archewell Foundation and how they’ve worked alongside them to raise awareness about harmful online content.

“Over the past few years, we have spent time with many of these families, listening to their heartache and their hopes for the urgent change that is needed in the online space,” they added. “This is an issue that transcends division and party lines, as we saw today at the Senate hearing. The best parenting in the world cannot keep children safe from these platforms.”

They continued, “As one of the fathers shared with us: ‘If love could have saved them, all of our children would still be here.’”

Prince Harry and Markle concluded the statement by encouraging others to take a stand. “This is not the time to pass the buck of responsibility,” they wrote. “It’s the time to make necessary change at the source to keep our children safe.”

The purpose of the hearing was to address how we can better protect children from sexual predation on social media. The U.S. senators spoke with the heads of media companies about implementing restrictions to ensure these platforms do not harm kids.

Well said, you two.
