Meghan Markle’s Mom Doria Ragland Shared Her Favorite Moment From the Royal Wedding

Was it mingling with George and Amal Clooney and the Beckhams? Was it standing in the famed Green Drawing Room of Windsor Castle for the portraits with Prince George and Princess Charlotte? Or was it spending the night before the wedding with her daughter in a posh hotel before Meghan Markle officially became the Duchess of Sussex?

The answer is none of the above for Doria Ragland, mother of the bride, who was the focus of much attention on the day of the royal wedding.

Ragland, a social worker and part-time yoga instructor based in L.A., touched down in London a few days ahead of the couple’s wedding date of May 19, anticipating a packed schedule with her daughter and future son-in-law Prince Harry. According to Us Weekly, the whirlwind wedding week had one particular standout moment for Ragland—besides the Suits actress getting married of course.

“Doria is saying the biggest highlight of the wedding, of course after watching her daughter say ‘I do’ to the man she loves, was meeting the queen,” a source told the magazine. “It would have been extremely intimidating for anyone, but Meghan and Harry really did a marvelous job of preparing her [with] what to expect.”

The same insider added that Harry wanted to ensure Ragland was well-equipped to meet the Queen, so he shared stories about what the monarch is like as a grandmother.

“His family has been so welcoming. On both sides of the family. His mom’s side as well, which has been really good to me,” Markle said in the couple’s joint interview with BBC. “We’ve had a really nice time getting to know them… The love that he has for her as his grandmother… all of those layers have been so important for me. She’s an incredible woman.”
