When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from their official royal roles in March 2020, they also gave up their public facing Instagram account, @SussexRoyal, where they had shared not only their work but also glimpses of their life and their son Archie; They had used the account to flout the royal rota system, posting photos that were not released to the British tabloids.

"Following today’s post, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will no longer post on Instagram under the @sussexroyal handle and will also no longer update SussexRoyal.com website," a statement from the Sussexes' team read at the time. "Both the Instagram account and website will remain in existence online for the foreseeable future, although they will be inactive."

Since then, as Harry and Meghan forged their new lives in the States, they've stayed off social media in any public capacity. "For my own self-preservation, I have not been on social media for a very long time,” Meghan told Fortune in October of 2020. “I made a personal choice to not have any account, so I don’t know what’s out there, and in many ways that’s helpful for me.” But that might be changing soon

... or it might not.

In a new interview with New York Magazine, Meghan shared with writer Allison P. Davis, a "secret."

"I’m getting back … on Instagram," Meghan said. “Especially now, with Archetypes coming out,” the Duchess continued, referencing her newly launched Spotify podcast, in which she interviews famous women and experts on "the labels that try to hold women back."

Davis debates the newsworthiness of this particular tidbit, but then suggests the decision might not be final, writing: "Later, Meghan would relay she was no longer sure she would actually return to Instagram."

I guess we'll have to wait and see.
