Meghan Markle Makes TIME's Person of the Year Shortlist in 2018
TIME Magazine's Person of the Year shortlist is a hard-hitting compilation of the success stories, and heartbreaking failures, experienced in 2018.
Meghan Markle, who left a Hollywood career to become the Duchess of Sussex earlier this year, has made TIME's Person of the Year shortlist for the first time.
Fellow nominees include the families separated at the U.S. border, Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler.
Meghan Markle might soon be able to add another accolade to her résumé, as it's now been revealed that the Duchess has made TIME Magazine's Person of the Year shortlist for 2018.
It's undeniable that Meghan's journey to becoming a member of the royal family has captivated the world, especially now that she's expecting her first baby with Prince Harry. Earlier this year, Meghan also featured on TIME's 100 Most Influential People list.
The ten nominees are Duchess Meghan, Black Panther's Ryan Coogler, Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, former FBI Director Robert Mueller, separated families at the U.S. border, Professor Christine Blasey Ford, presumed-murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi, March For Our Lives activists, and South Korean President Moon Jae-in.
As TIME's website explains, the Person of the Year seeks to recognize "the person or group of people who most influenced the news and the world-for better or for worse-during the past year." Last year's winners, The Silence Breakers, highlighted all of the people who spoke out against sexual assault or harassment in 2017, and inspired the #timesup movement as a result.
The winner is due to be announced on December 11, 2018, at 7 a.m. on TIME.com.
