The British royal family as we know it is about to look a lot different. Today, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry attended their final event as senior members of the royal family. Yes, they are still expected to attend family events, but they won't be there in any official capacity. Plus, today's event for Commonwealth Day also marks a rare joint appearance by both the Sussexes and the Cambridges.
For the service at Westminster Abbey, both Markle and Kate Middleton subscribed to the #1 royal trend that works every single time: monochrome. They both wore monochrome in very different ways, with Markle opting for a Kelly green caped dress with a Gabriela Hearst bag, and Middleton re-wearing a Catherine Walker coat. Middleton's coat could be a sign of solidarity, as she also wore it when she and Markle walked side-by-side into Christmas service in 2018. Scroll down to see what Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton wore to Commonwealth Day in London.
On Meghan Markle: Emilia Wickstead dress; Gabriela Hearst bag; William Chambers hat; Birks Snowflake Snowstorm Diamond Earrings in White Gold ($12,000); Aquazzura shoes
This caped dress deserves to be seen from every angle.
Gabriela Hearst Satin Demi Bag ($1995)
Markle is a fan of Gabriela Hearst and has also worn a brown leather version of this same bag.
Mango Small Knot Bag ($40)
Gabriela Hearst bags are notoriously hard to acquire, but this little Mango gem is a worthy alternative for $40.
Markle wore one of her all-time favorite pieces of jewelry: diamond earrings by Birks.
Birks Snowflake Snowstorm Diamond Earrings in White Gold ($12000)
Nina Floral Stone Cluster Stud Earrings ($50)
These $50 earrings from Nordstrom are a dead ringer for Markle's $12,000 versions if I do say so myself.
Can you say power couple?
On Kate Middleton: Catherine Walker coat; Sally-Ann Provan Sada Felt Saucer Hat ($604)
Middleton looked regal in a Catherine Walker coat she fished out of her own closet.
Here's a close-up look at her statement hat by Sally-Ann Provan.

This swirly updo is not for the faint of heart.
Not to be outdone by her daughters-in-law, Queen Elizabeth looked chic in Robin egg blue.
Queen Elizabeth sits with her heirs and their well-dressed wives: Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton.
