Meghan Markle Just Met Her 'Idol' and the Duchess Was Totally Starstruck
Today, Prince Harry and Jane Goodall joined forces at Windsor Castle — and revealed that it hadn't been long since they'd last seen each other.
Harry and Jane were hosting an event in support of Jane's charity Roots & Shoots, which empowers young people to make a difference. (They were also joined by special guest Bella the cockapoo, the eight-year-old pup belonging to the warden of St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.) There was a lot to enjoy about the talk — which began with the pair giving each other a "chimp greeting" — but perhaps the most charming tidbit was about Harry's family.
Jane revealed that she had recently visited the Sussexes at their home, Frogmore Cottage, and that she'd had the chance to "cuddle" baby Archie. When their meeting was nearing an end, Meghan Markle popped in, and professed her admiration for Jane's trailblazing work.
"You’ve been my idol since I was a child," Meghan said, according to a tweet from royal reporter Emily Andrews. "I’ve hero worshipped you all my life."
It's hardly surprising that Meghan admires Jane Goodall, as the Duchess has a long-established passion for environmentalism. (She also loves animals — just ask her rescue dog, a Beagle named Guy.)
Jane (who was amazing) also revealed she’d cuddled Archie last month, when she was at Frogmore to see Harry. Meghan also popped in at the end & told her: “You’ve been my idol since I was a child. I’ve hero worshipped you all my life” @JaneGoodallUK pic.twitter.com/rEjbhv2w0P

Even back in 2016, prior to her life as a royal, she was advocating for eco-friendly practices. "It’s important that we never forget the wellbeing of our good ol’ Mama Earth," Meghan once wrote on her now-defunct blog, The Tig.
She has, after all, worshipped Jane Goodall since she was a little kid.
