Royals might be the only people in the world with unlimited wardrobe options, but that hasn’t stopped them from wearing plain old jeans—and wearing them well. Princess Diana loved high-waist denim. Kate Middleton has a thing for Zara skinnies. And then there’s Meghan Markle and the jeans she wears on repeat.
Since making her entrance on the royal stage in 2017, Markle has skirted royal protocols and inspired legions of shoppers with her outfits—specifically her denim ensembles. It all started with her first appearance with Prince Harry in 2017. Her outfit for the occasion? A white button-down and distressed jeans by Mother.
It wasn’t always this easy to pick up one of Markle’s favorite jeans—and definitely not for a discount. For a long time the Meghan Markle jeans were perennially sold out (obviously). In fact, after Markle wore her Mother jeans to the Invictus Games, the brand immediately sold out of the style. The waitlist for her jeans reportedly grew to 4,000 eager customers, and traffic to the page for Markle’s jeans jumped a reported 1,000%. They’ve since been restocked on the brand’s website and are well stocked (for now) at retailers like Nordstrom.
Of course, the iconic pair she wore that day isn’t available at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but there are not one, but two pairs that are nearly identical. (The primary differences between them? One is high-waisted, and the other has a cropped hem.) And these versions of her Looker jeans are discounted right now by nearly $100. These pairs don’t have a ripped knee and hit above the ankle—but those are the only discrepancies we can spot.
Markle has other reasons to suggest that Mother jeans are a favorite in her closet: She has sported the denim brand again since her first appearance, donning a pair during the 2018 Invictus Games. This time around she chose a slick pair of black skinnies, offset by a bright white blazer.
And yes, there’s a similar black style at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Usually it retails for $220, but during the retailer’s epic event, it’s marked down to $132. But now that the sale is open to everyone, there’s no doubt both of these pairs will sell out quick. So be sure add these to your cart—and check out—stat.
Like Markle, you don’t have to limit yourself to one pair of royal-friendly jeans, so if you’ve ever wanted to do denim like a duchess, now’s your chance.
