Inside the event, Meghan, who's expecting her first child, told residents she was feeling "very good." At one point, she asked a resident if she had children, and the resident said, "No, I don't. I had a career." Meghan responded to her, “That I understand."

The visit was especially special to the residents and comes as Meghan is said to be finalizing her first patronage. She reportedly met with the Queen last week to discuss which charity she'll take over as patron of for Queen Elizabeth II next year.

Royal Variety Charity chairman Giles Cooper told royal reporter Carolyn Durand that “the timing of the visit is fantastic as it comes a few weeks after the Royal Variety performance which she attended with Prince Harry. And it comes after her wedding, which all the residents here were watching. We had the television on, Union Jack bunting up and a party atmosphere, so it’s nice to have the bride here.”
