Meghan Markle's Latest Bold Wardrobe Choices Have So Many Hidden Meanings

While at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's first joint public engagement of 2019, in Birkenhead, the Duchess of Sussex donned a violet purple dress and cherry red coat and heels while cradling her six-months' pregnant baby bump

And, as expected, we couldn't get enough. But upon closer inspection, it seems this wasn't just a headline-making scheme based on her "daring" sartorial choices. It was, however, a nice tribute to two different aspects of the duchess's royal life.

No stranger to emulating Princess Diana's style, Markle rocked the regal eye-popping color combo in nearly identical hues as her late mother-in-law. The choice wasn't a coincidence. Markle's butterfly earrings, wedding veil and sequin-top-and-skirt combo have all felt like a nod to the people's princess.

Eye-catching violet and fire-engine red also happen to be the two colors emblazoned on the logo for Tomorrow's Women Wirral, a charity that promotes female empowerment that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited on their Birkenhead tour.

And we know by now that Markle isn't a stranger to lending her style to the country she's visiting or cause she's promoting.

That, plus the fact that purple and red have always been seen as colors that symbolize royalty throughout history, make this duchess-approved combo one of Markle's most exciting #lewks yet.

Permission to break out those bright purple shoes from college. (It's duchess-approved now, ya hear?!)
