  • Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's son Archie will automatically become a prince when Prince Charles becomes King.

  • It will be up to Archie whether or not he wants to use a HRH title when he turns 18.

You know how Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are parents to the cutest little kid ever, a.k.a Archie? Well, in case you'd forgotten, this sweet kid is not a prince (yet!), and currently goes by Master Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

However, The Express (via Us Weekly) reports that Archie will technically become a prince as soon as his grandfather Prince Charles becomes King of England—though apparently it'll be up to him whether or not he wants to go by Prince Archie, or use the formal title His Royal Highness at the age of 18 (which his parents stopped using when they stepped down as senior working members of the royal family earlier this year).

The Express also notes that the 2013 Succession of the Crown Act rules that royals who are sixth in line to the throne (which Archie will be when Prince Charles is King) must ask the monarch for permission to get married, meaning Archie could technically have to ask Charles' permission to tie the knot when the time comes—though maybe by then this outdated rule will be more of a formality? Whomst knows.

Also, just in case you're curious, here's the current line of succession:

  1. Prince Charles

  2. Prince William

  3. Prince George

  4. Princess Charlotte

  5. Prince Louis

  6. Prince Harry

  7. Master Archie
