Today, a legend has announced he’s hanging up his stylish cap.

Law Roach, one of the most celebrated celebrity stylists in the world, announced his retirement in a social media post today, March 14.

“My cup is empty,” he wrote on Instagram. “Thank you to everyone who’ve supported me and my career over the years. Every person that trusted me with their image, I’m so grateful for you all. If this business was just about the clothes I would do it for the rest of my life but unfortunately, it’s not! The politics, the lies, and false narratives finally got me! You win… I’m out.”

Immediately, celebs like Chika, Lauren Jauregui, Aaron Philip, Shea Couleé, Naomi Campbell, Christian Siriano, Munroe Bergdorf, and Brooke Lynn Hytes expressed their sadness and begged him to come back.

Roach has long been one of the most successful and trendsetting stylists in all of Hollywood. He’s been responsible for many Black celebrities’ viral fashion moments and has changed the way we look at fashion and style on the red carpet, at award shows, and in magazines.

Roach, who works with clients like Hunter Schafer, Venus Williams, Ariana Grande, Kerry Washington, Anya Taylor-Joy, Tiffany Haddish, and Aldis Hodge, is perhaps most known for his work styling Zendaya, which he’s done since 2011.

He was the first Black stylist to win Stylist of the Year from The Hollywood Reporter’s Power Stylists ranking, in both 2021 and 2022. In 2017, he was the first Black stylist to make the cover of the issue.

He also served as a judge on the terrific and underrated HBO Max ballroom reality competition series Legendary, where he was known for his style, his savage tongue, and his flawless taste.
