Meg Ryan Made a Rare Public Appearance to Support Michael J. Fox

Michael J. Fox had the full support of Hollywood’s most influential stars at the NYC screening of his upcoming Apple TV+ documentary, Still, including fellow ’80s icon Meg Ryan.

On May 4, the When Harry Met Sally actor made a rare public appearance at the star-studded event, posing for a photo with fellow guests, including Fox, Denis Leary, Katie Couric, Bill Murray, and Joan Jett. Other attendees included Mariska Hargitay, Debra Messing, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Matthew Broderick.

The documentary, which premieres on May 12, unpacks the Back to the Future star’s decades-long career as well as his ongoing battle with Parkinson’s disease. Fox’s wife, Tracy Pollan, shared snaps from the evening on Instagram, writing, “A very special night surrounded by family and friends for the screening of STILL @lincolncenter.”

Dressed in plaid trousers and a embroidered red blazer layered under a oversized black blazer, Ryan’s entire look was definitely giving Sally Albright.

The 61-year-old actor was last seen on screen in the 2015 movie Ithaca, which she also directed, and has largely remained out of the public eye ever since. Page Six reports that it’s been six months since her last public appearance, though her last big red-carpet moment took place in November 2021. Thankfully, the rom-com icon is poised for a comeback with her upcoming film What Happens Later, which she also cowrote and directed.

“I’m aware now that romantic comedies are confections, but they have construction. There’s architecture. It’s not something I was aware of back then,” Ryan told The New York Times Magazine in 2019, per People. “But I don’t think that because things are tragic, they’re deeper. Think about Nora Ephron. Her observation about romantic comedies is that they were commenting on their time in an intelligent way, but with the intention to delight.”

According to Deadline, What Happens Later stars Ryan and David Duchovny as ex-lovers who find themselves trapped in an airport together during a snowstorm. Sign. Us. Up.
