The M&M's crew just got a little bigger now that they added a new permanent character. The latest character to be added to the lineup is Purple, a spokescandy who is described as self-aware, authentic, and confident.

Not only is Purple the first M&M's character to be introduced in a decade, she's also the candy's first female peanut character. The other peanut M&M's character is the jovial, fun-loving Yellow.

A short Q&A on the M&M's website reveals that Purple is big on second chances, not so keen on working out, and is a great advice giver. When asked what wisdom she'd give to her teenage self, Purple said that she would tell her to "Dance like no one is watching, until you realize someone is. Then stop immediately and pretend a fly was just attacking you."

Mars, the manufacturers of M&M's and a number of other popular candies, expressed their excitement at the new addition.

"Mars is thrilled to debut the newest member of the M&M'S cast of characters to the world. There is so much about our new spokescandy that people can relate to and appreciate, including her willingness to embrace her true self. Our new character reminds us to celebrate what makes us unique," said Jane Hwang, Global Vice President at Mars Wrigley, in a statement.

Purple recently made her sweet debut in the music video for "I'm Just Gonna Be Me." The lively number features saxophonist Grace Kelly, dance and choreography masters Devin Santiago and Colo Cag, and opera singer Anthony Roth Costanzo.
