Creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky. Netflix's new portrayal of the iconic Addams family is all of the above in the upcoming series titled Wednesday.

From the 1960s television show to the 1990s movies and even its own Broadway musical, the Addams have been reincarnated over the years, but we're finally getting a show dedicated to the family's grim daughter (and my personal favorite), Wednesday. But, now she's in high school, a place that's already grizzly on its own.

Directed by the Tim Burton, the 2022 portrayal of the ghoulish family remains true to the original Charles Addams cartoons. The show's creator Alfred Gough explained in an interview with Vanity Fair that Wednesday is very much still gloomy, but more independent in the upcoming series. "The relationship that kind of hangs over the season is really Wednesday’s relationship with Morticia," he explained. “How do you step out of the shadow of a mother as glamorous as Morticia?”

The series will explore Wednesday's love-hate relationship with her family, including a sibling rivalry any sister-brother duo will definitely understand from firsthand experience. Think of it as your typical angsty teenager, but amplify it by 100 because honestly, no one does it like Wednesday Addams.

The 19-year-old up-and-coming actress will portray the oh-so-spooky Wednesday Addams as she enters high school at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her psychic powers and solve a supernatural mystery that haunts her family.

Jenna first received recognition for her role in Jane the Virgin and has since been in Netflix's You, The Fallout, and Scream 5.

Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams

The award-winning actress plays the sultry matriarch of the family, Morticia, who is known to be the queen of zen even in a household as chaotic as the Addams'.

Catherine is no stranger to the screen as she's become a Hollywood legend who's starred in films like The Mask of Zorro, Chicago, and Ocean's Twelve.

Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams

Gomez Addams is about as suave as they come and is absolutely obsessed with his wife Morticia. As the patriarch of the Addams family, he can be a bit naive, but things seem to always mysteriously work in his favor.

Puerto Rican actor, Luis Guzmán is also known for his roles in Narcos, Journey 2, and Netflix thriller Havoc.

Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams

Only one person can torture Wednesday's deviant brother and that's Wednesday herself.

Isaac who plays Pugsley is best known for his role in A Wrinkle in Time based on the Madeleine L'Engle 1962 novel.

George Burcea as Lurch

The Romanian actor George Burcea will portray Lurch who is a tall, Frankenstein-esque butler to the Addams. Like Cousin Itt, he doesn't really talk, but the family has no problem understanding his inarticulate moans.

Gwendoline Christie as Larissa Weems

Meet the head teacher at Nevermore Academy where Wednesday is sent after an unfortunate mishap at her previous school. She also happens to be a previous school rival to Morticia.

Gwendoline who portrays Larissa is best known for her roll in Game of Thrones and has other credits like The Hunger Games: Mockingjay and Netflix's The Sandman.

Christina Ricci as...well, that's a surprise!

Christina Ricci is returning to her roots. Famously known for her iconic role as Wednesday in the 1991 The Addams Family, she's joining the cast of the Netflix series, although her role is being kept under wraps. It's speculated that she'll play a completely new character rather than returning as an older version of Wednesday Addams.

When does Wednesday premiere on Netflix?

Wednesday is set to premiere on Netflix Fall 2022. Although, there isn't a specific date set, we know it'll be the perfect Fall show to add to our must watch list!
