Meet the 2022 Commercial Appeal All-Metro girls basketball teams

Memphis High School Sports Awards

The Commercial Appeal's All-Metro girls basketball teams are announced along with the six girls nominees for Memphis area basketball player of the year. The winners will be announced at the Memphis Area High School Sports Awards, presented by Farm Bureau Health Plans of Tennessee, in the spring. More details about the program coming soon.

The girls basketball player of the year is sponsored by the Memphis Sports Council.

First Team

Kennedy Claybrooks

Bartlett

Guard, Sr.

Nominee for player of the year

Why chosen: Claybrooks, who averaged 9 points and 5.1 assists this season, helped the Panthers turn the program around in one year, getting them to the Class 4A sectional round this season. Claybrooks is a Texas State signee.

Mallory Collier

Bartlett

Center, Jr.

Nominee for player of the year

Why chosen: The North Carolina State commitment was an anchor inside for the Panthers this season, averaging 12.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.

Micaiah Halliburton

Millington

Guard, Sr.

Nominee for player of the year

Why chosen: Halliburton led the Lady Trojans this season, averaging 15.4 points and leading them to the regional semifinals.

Alindsey Long

Arlington

Guard, Sr.

Nominee for player of the year

Why chosen: Long led the Tigers back to the state tournament this season and grabbed region and district MVP awards in the process. She averaged 12 points and seven rebounds this season.

Rhema Pegues

Olive Branch

Guard, Sr.

Nominee for player of the year

Why chosen: The senior averaged 21 points, 7.9 rebounds, 4.3 assists and two steals. Pegues helped lead Olive Branch to a 18-7 record and advance to the second round of the MHSAA Class 6A playoffs.

Raven Sims

Tipton-Rosemark

Guard, Jr.

Nominee for player of the year

Why chosen: Sims led the area in scoring, averaging 23.1 ppg this season for the Rebels.

Why chosen: In her second year at the helm, Shields led the Tigers to a 22-5 record and on a postseason run back to the state tournament for the fifth-straight season.
