A new McDonald’s Dollar Menu is coming in 2018

The Dollar Menu from McDonald’s left the world years ago. But the fast food franchise announced that it will soon be resurrecting its budget menu. According to Business Insider, a new McDonald’s Dollar Menu will be coming in 2018. The name is a bit of a misnomer though, since food items will be sold for $1, $2, and $3, but it should still attract thrifty people who miss the original Dollar Menu.

After 11 years of cheaply priced tasty treats, McDonald’s dropped the Dollar Menu in November 2013, as The Atlantic reported. Frugal fans of the fast food joint were disappointed, and McDonald’s has been trying out other price-saving menu campaigns since. The company attempted the McPick 2, which allowed costumers to select two items — between a McDouble, a McChicken, small fries, and mozzarella sticks — for just $2.

That was great and all, but only months later, the McPick 2 changed prices to become $5. It still made for a fairly cheap meal, especially considering that the included options changed to a Quarter Pounder, Big Mac, chicken nuggets, Filet-O-Fish, and fries. But that doesn’t mean people were happy about this deal having its price raised so quickly.

Other cash-saving promotions have included McDonald’s selling all soft drinks for $1, but the Dollar Menu has never been beaten. So the announcement that McDonald’s is revamping the Dollar Menu was met with praise and excitement.

Although which items will be on the Dollar Menu — and what prices they will be — haven’t been revealed yet, Bloomberg reports that McDonald’s said that nearly 100 percent of their franchises have agreed to offer the new and improved Dollar Menu. So get ready for some cheap eats in 2018.
