Today, the series dropped the first official trailer for season three, and it looks just as chock full of drama, tension, and action as fans could hope for. Watch the trailer here:

The new reel also marks the first time fans have gotten to see footage of star Jeremy Renner back in his titular role. Back in September 2023, Paramount+ confirmed that the series would indeed be returning for a third outing with Renner in the lead, a fact that was in question for months after the actor suffered traumatic injuries in a snowplow accident on New Year's Day 2023, just weeks before the show's second season debuted. At the time, the star was hospitalized with 30 broken bones and has since continued to share glimpses of his recovery on social media.

Last fall, he shared a post on his Instagram revealing that the season has officially begun filming.

"Day one on set … nervous today," the actor wrote in the caption of a behind the scenes selfie. "Hope this works out that I can ACTUALLY pull this off for our production and more importantly the fans"

Part of Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan's ever-growing roster of shows, Mayor of Kingstown features Renner's McLusky, a powerful figure in the titular town, whose landscape and economy is dominated by the prison industrial complex.

Per the series's official synopsis, "Mayor of Kingstown follows the McLusky family, power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither. "
