Speculation as to who should be the next permanent host of Jeopardy has turned out to be one of the purest and most kind-hearted debates in the history of pop culture. Even better—there seems to be no lack of formidable contenders. From NFL quarterbacks to esteemed journalists, Jeopardy has featured a slew of excellent guest hosts. This week, Mayim Bialik entered the fray (in a very big way).

The neuroscientist and actress, best known for her roles in The Big Bang Theory and Blossom, took the podium on Monday night, starting her 10-episode run as guest host. From night one, Bialik received a massive amount of praise for her composure and personable hosting skills. In Monday night's episode, she began by saying, "It is an incredible honor to guest host Jeopardy. I was raised in a very creative and academic family, but it wasn't until high school that I fell in love with science and that love led me to a Ph.D. in neuroscience."

In a behind the scenes clip from Jeopardy, Bialik added, "This is such an iconic and unbelievable piece of our collective culture. To be considered to be a part of it, really in any way, is an immense honor, especially for someone who’s dedicated so much of my life to academia, to knowing things and to being able to communicate things."

Her excellent first couple outings have fans suggesting that Bialik might be the top of the heap once guest hosting ends and the long-time trivia show chooses a new host. Even with fanfare for other hosts, Bialik's mixture of charm and whip smart commentary has made quick fans out of any skeptics.

As noted before, Bialik is only the most recent in a string of Jeopardy guest hosts. Aaron Rodgers, Katie Couric, and Ken Jennings are just a few who have stepped in to fill the place of beloved host Alex Trebek. The discussion around who will ultimately take the gig has become so lively that crowd-favorite, LeVar Burton, landed a guest spot slated for late July after fans petitioned for him online.

And don't get us wrong: we love Reading Rainbow, but if Bialik continues at the rate she's going, then it's going to be a tight race. Bazinga!
