The New Maybelline New York Master Fairy Highlight Is as Magical as It Sounds

Unicorns, mermaids, and fairies — oh my! We've seen the first two mystical creatures make IRL appearances in our beauty routines in major ways. Until this point, fairies are have been sadly overlooked. The upcoming Maybelline New York Master Fairy Highlight is about to change that, though. The drugstore brand is about to drop two — yes, two — rainbow highlighters inspired by Tinkerbell and her close of kin.
A beauty vlogger known as Roxxsaurus gave her Instagram followers a peek at the colorful new highlighters on her Story while at Coachella's opening weekend. The first of the rainbow duo is closest to the ROYGBIV rainbow variety you've seen from Bitter Lace Beauty and Wet n Wild. It's striped with shimmery magenta, chiffon yellow, sky blue, and lilac striations. The other Master Fairy Highlight is in on-trend ombré of shades of purple, starting with a violet and ending with a pastel lavender. Purple highlighter may seem unexpected, but it's actually been popping up everywhere lately. With beauty brands like Becca and NYX getting in on the unexpected trend, we're sure everyone's pumped to have another affordable option to experiment with.
We like to think of rainbow highlighters as circular mini palettes. Each of the shades can be swept onto cheekbones individually with a small fluffy brush. Or you can swirl all of the colorful hues together to create a fifth custom shade.
A launch date for the Maybelline New York Master Fairy Highlight hasn't been confirmed just yet, the brand tells Allure. It is safe to get excited about the pretty palettes, though. They definitely are set to hit shelves at your local drugstore. From the looks of the ever-so-magical highlighters, they'll be worth the wait.
