You May Not Have Noticed That ‘Watchmen’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Were Filmed in the Same Place

From Men's Health

  • There's not much in common between HBO's Watchmen and any Marvel movie, particularly Avengers: Endgame.

  • One keen eyed Reddit user, however, noticed a major crossover.

  • It looks like Lady Trieu's company's headquarters and the Avengers Headquarters were filmed in the same location.

Part of the charm of Watchmen—both the HBO version and the original graphic novel—is that the "heroes" of this world, with the exception of one Dr. Manhattan, don't actually have any powers. Sure, Adrian Veidt is smart, but he's no different on the inside from you or I. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (as Martin Scorsese has loved to recently point out), is not based in the same reality—it feels like everyone has superpowers there. Yet despite these stark differences, though, they seem to have something in common with one another: a place where their characters can hang out and spend some time.

As Reddit user u/hypedup80 noticed, the headquarters for Lady Trieu's company in Watchmen is actually the same location as the Avengers' headquarters in several films, starting with Captain America: Civil War. It's hard to miss those giant windows and epically high ceilings. I'm no architect, but that building is something else.

As it turns out, the location where both Watchmen and Avengers: Endgame (and various others) appear to have been filmed is the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta. This post from Porsche blog Flat Sixes saw the comparison back in 2015, ahead of Captain America: Civil War. That was the location for a number of films between Civil War and Endgame.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe films famously film in the Atlanta area, and as this Atlanta Magazine article from October 2018 shows, Watchmen was also filming in Atlanta.

The location enters the Watchmen story in episode 4, when Angela (Regina King), Laurie (Jean Smart) and Agent Petey (Dustin Ingram) go to see Lady Trieu at her place of business (beneath the Millennium Clock). There's so much else going on in Watchmen that it's hard to blame someone for not noticing such a recognizable location immediately—everyone's mind is too busy churning a million miles an hour trying to figure out all 800 mysteries the show has us salivating to know the answers to.
