Max Domi's philosophical tweet backfires as social media rips his spelling mistake

You win some, you loose some, I guess.

In an attempt to share a philosophical thought about growing from mistakes and failure, Max Domi’s message was lost in translation after mixing up the spelling of “lose” and “loose” on Twitter.

Domi was replying to a quote from Ray Allen on the importance of losing, but missed the correct spelling of the word written right beneath his own tweet before hitting send.

In life you can’t be applauded for your mistakes. You cannot be led to believe that you are entitled. Todays society awards participants. You either win or loose. Loosing teaches you valuable life lessons. Loosing with humility teaches one to grow and learn from certain mistakes. https://t.co/RyG9C5DAok

2/2 ... There is no entitlement or handouts. You need to face adversity in life or you will never grow as an individual. You need to get up and go after what you want. And when you fail, get your ass back up and try harder. https://t.co/RyG9C5DAok

If we’ve learned anything from Twitter, it’s to never fire up the keyboard warriors.

In two days there’s been more than 250 replies to his tweet, and a lot are of the same tone. The comments are full of people ripping on his education, calling him a “looser” and joking that “loosing” might be the “Canadien” spelling of the word.

Some even went on to call out the irony of Max’s statement about “no entitlement or handouts,” since his father, Tie Domi, enjoyed a 16-year career in the NHL, which helped pave the way for Max to follow suit.

Others brought Max’s OHL playing career into the “entitled” conversation, reflecting on the time Domi failed to report the team that drafted him (the Kingston Frontenacs) in order to be traded to London, where he wanted to play.

Max Domi refused to report to any OHL team that wasn’t the London Knights, leading to the dissolution of the friendship between his dad and his former Leaf teammate Doug Gilmour (who drafted him as GM of Kingston) https://t.co/o6g935Culc

Professional athletes know they need to have thick skin if they’re going to be involved on social media. Max laughed the situation off and called out auto correct for the mishap.

Hahah I know. Auto correct will get you every time. Oh well 🤷‍♂️ https://t.co/xZNh85l3sC

To quote the great Max Domi himself: “Loosing teaches you valuable life lessons. Loosing with humility teaches one to grow and learn from certain mistakes,” and this tweet certainly gave him the right opportunity to practice what he’s preached.
