Matt Every in danger of missing cut after day 1 lead at Arnold Palmer Invitational

Matt Every played his lowest round at Bay Hill on the first day of the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando, Florida. His 7-under 65 positioned him in first place, above world No. 1 Rory McIlroy.

But in the second round, he lived up to his own comment made in a post-round interview and finished at 11-over 83, putting him in danger of missing the cut.

Every remarks he’s either very good or bad

Every is ranked No. 309 in the world and came off a dead-last finish at the Honda Classic last week. On one hole he had an 11 on a par 3 while he attempted to get the shot he wanted.

But both of his PGA Tour victories in 237 starts came at Bay Hill in 2014 and 2015. He remarked on it in an post-round interview on Thursday while holding the lead.

“Sometimes I’m really good,” Every said. “Sometimes I’m really bad.”

The 36-year-old is back on the tour after serving a three-month suspension last year for violating the drugs of abuse policy when he tested positive for marijuana. He said he it was prescribed by a doctor for a mental health condition.

At 4-over, Every is expected to miss the cut at Bay Hill. He had seven birdies in the first round and zero bogeys, but followed it with one birdie, four bogeys and four double bogeys.
