Maternity Leggings So Comfortable You’ll Wear Them Even After You Give Birth
One of the best parts about being pregnant is that you can wear maternity leggings every single day, and no one cares — which is good, because sometimes, they're all that fits.
Finding the perfect maternity leggings feels like it should be a cinch. You go to the maternity section, grab whatever pair of leggings that match the oversized sweatshirt you plan on wearing, and you’re good, right? I wish. Thanks to the bump, leggings ride up in some places while they slide down in others. Not to mention, just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean you’ve given up on fashion. You just need leggings to accommodate your growing bump.
Styles of Maternity Leggings
There are a few types of leggings for the pregnant set. How you choose is totally a personal preference, as they're all great options. It's mostly just going to be what is comfortable for you at the time. The three main types are under-the-belly leggings, over-the-belly leggings, and non-maternity leggings.
- Under-the-Belly Leggings: These are leggings that sit below your bump, rising higher in the back. They allow for a lot of growth and may be the most comfortable option in the first and second trimesters when the skin is really stretching and itchy. They're also great if your leggings are darker than your top, as they don't show through.
- Over-the-Belly Leggings: Imagine all things maternity style — that's the over-the-belly leggings. They are regular leggings with a stretchy top panel that rises all the way to under your breastbone. They're wildly comfortable, and they don't fall down.
- Non-Maternity Leggings: There are a few leggings, like the Lululemon Align, that aren't traditionally for pregnant people, but work really well for them all the same.
The Best Maternity Leggings
How We Chose
I spoke to several pregnant people to find the pregnancy leggings they couldn't live without. I also drew from my own experience, since I only wore leggings, overalls, and dresses when I was pregnant. Pregnant people are the experts here, and they know which leggings really deliver on comfort. Check out the best maternity leggings below!

1) Align Super-High-Rise Tight 28 inch
Lululemon
lululemon.com
$98.00
Pregnancy is a hyper-sensory experience, and the soft and buttery texture of these leggings (equipped with seams that don't itch or irritate) makes them an easy choice as our best overall winner. I wore these throughout my entire pregnancy — and I still wear them today. The super high rise ends up covering the majority of your bump, and the fabric is absolutely unbeatable.
They're also a great option for active parents. I exercised and went running throughout my pregnancies, and these leggings were the most breathable and moisture-wicking leggings out of the many that I tried.

2) Bump Support Legging
Belly Bandit
bellybandit.com
$59.95
Testers who loved these said that these bump-support maternity leggings from Belly Bandit are basically the leggings that dreams are made of. The Bump Support legging provides a bit of compression through the hip and under the pelvis, and around to the back. This helps redistribute the weight of your bump more evenly across your hips away from your lower back.
Some wearers report that the seams can be a bit pronounced, so if that is something that bothers you greatly, these might not be right.

3) Velvety Soft Maternity Leggings for Women
Felina
amazon.com
$39.95
Have you ever put on a pair of leggings that were so comfortable they just felt like home? That's Felina. I wear Felina non-maternity leggings in my everyday life, every chance I can reasonably make them a layer or wear them as pants. (Leggings are pants and that's a hill I will die on.)
They're cheap, they take a long time to wear out, and they go way up over your belly, even if you have a long torso like I do. They're comfortable and comforting. Not too tight, not too roomy, just right.

4) 2Pk Under Belly Panel Leggings
M Motherhood Maternity
walmart.com
$35.00
Probably the most controversial choice on this list, these under-belly maternity leggings are very much a love-them-or-hate-them item (but we love them). If you don't like leggings that go over your bump, these are your best option. However, if you don't mind over the belly, you may dislike these because they really do sit right above your pubic bone.
But for $35, you get two pairs of very serviceable leggings, which is an incredible deal. And yes, they're comfortable postpartum as well.

5) Black Seamless Maternity Legging
Girlfriend Collective
girlfriend.com
$88.00
The most size-inclusive brand on this list, the ultra-comfy, extra-long Girlfriend Collective maternity leggings come in sizes XXS to 6XL.
They’re UPF 50-rated, have spectacular four-way stretch, they’re made of 83% recycled materials, and OEKO-TEX- and bluesign-certified. Parents I spoke with said that these are very similar to Lululemon’s Align leggings but with more room on the top, making them awesome for parents pregnant with multiples.

6) MAMA Ribbed Leggings
H&M
hm.com
$24.99
Most leggings don't offer much in the way of visual interest. These ribbed leggings are a bit more exciting. The ribbed pattern falls somewhere between corduroy and a stripe, soft and supple, with just enough pattern to make you feel a bit more dressed up.
They're more affordable than many others, but reviewers note that it's reflected in the amount of wear you get out of them before they stretch out.

7) Women's High-Waisted Leggings
nike
nike.com
$62.00
A true “sport legging,” the Nike One leggings are just as excellent as you’d think they would be from the brand. Wearers I spoke with said that they are the best for regulating your temperature via their breathability and moisture wicking and that the seams are strong but hardly noticeable.
What's more, these are one of the few brands of maternity leggings that come in size tall. And they are actually tall. One mom I spoke with was over 6 feet tall, and they were long enough.

8) Everyday Maternity Belly Support Leggings
Blanqi
saksfifthavenue.com
$74.00
Blanqi is one of the highest-rated, most-popular maternity leggings you can buy. They’re known for their belly-band-like support, similar to the Belly Bandit leggings, but with a bit more structure and a bit longer in the leg.
Wearers who like that “hug” feeling that these give you really love these leggings, but the same issue that exists for the Belly Bandit is present here — strong seams mean more pronounced seams.

9) Studio Flare
Vuori
vuoriclothing.com
$98.00
These maternity leggings are so easy to wear and comfortable (and I guess we’re calling yoga pants “flared leggings” now?). I was clued into these by a few recently pregnant parents who not only love the relaxed fit but that they can wear them when they're no longer pregnant.
Vuori makes reliably wonderful and stylish leisure and athletic wear, and their foray into high-waisted "flared leggings" is by all accounts very successful.

10) Maternity Leggings With Sheen
A Pea in the Pod
macys.com
$24.99
These over-the-belly leggings have just a tiny amount of sheen, which means that if you want to wear them with knee-length boots and a sequin top, you 100% can and should. Also, if you want to just wear that sequin top and leggings around the house with your Crocs, it's totally appropriate.
Pea in the Pod is a brand that's known for its fantastic basics, and these leggings are a real star with their customers, according to the reviews.

11) Ingrid and Isabel Maternity Leggings
INGRID & ISABEL
nordstrom.com
$88.00
These leggings are wildly popular, and they frequently sell out at Nordstrom. They are four-trimester leggings, meaning that they are comfortable all 40 weeks — and possibly even more comfortable in the weeks after you give birth.
A bit on the higher end for leggings, they are worth it for their thicker fabric, reinforced stitching, and small details like the tiny notch at the ankle that lets you know that you're buying something of quality.

12) Mama Maternity Jean-ish Ankle Leggings
SPANX
bloomingdales.com
$110.00
Listen, these are jeans if you say they are, and they look close enough to the real thing that no one will bat an eye. But do they feel like jeans? No, of course not. These Spanx jeggings are soft and flexible, and they don't make you regret your wardrobe decision halfway through the day.
Yes, they're a little spendy, but the value is in the comfort and strength of these denim dupes. (And they're totally resellable on Facebook after the baby.)

13) Black Maternity Bike Short
Torrid
torrid.com
$29.50
OK, sometimes, you just want to wear a pair of shorts, but you don’t want the confining fabric of denim or khaki — so allow us to introduce you to these bicycle shorts. Available from Torrid, these are basically leggings with no legs, and they are a game-changer.
Bonus: They’re also great to wear under a dress to prevent chafing. They breathe well, and wearers love that there's enough stretch through the booty as well, something other leggings don't always have, leading to transparent leggings.torrid.com - 15/15
14) Martina Maternity And Postpartum Support Crop Leggings
Kindred Bravely
kindredbravely.com
$34.98
Anyone who has given birth knows the discomfort associated with your changing belly. At first, it’s all about the stretching and itching. Later on, it’s cramps and round ligament pain.
