The Masked Singer made history Wednesday night ... but according to fans, maybe not in a good way.

The second episode of season 4 introduced viewers to Group B, which included Seahorse, Whatchamacallit, Serpent, Baby Alien, Crocodile, and Gremlin. The night started off normally, with each contestant taking the stage and judges Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke, and Jenny McCarthy rattling off their best guesses. But things got particularly bizarre after Gremlin sang "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King.

Before he was about to exit the stage, Gremlin told host Nick Cannon that he wanted to take his mask off right then and there. After Jenny asked what was going on, Nick announced, "Gremlin's telling me he wants to take this off, it's too damn hot."

And so, without the audience getting the chance to vote for their favorite Group B contestants, Gremlin eliminated himself and took off his mask. Turns out, underneath all that purple and white fur was Oscar-nominated actor Mickey Rourke.

"I don't know what's happening, ladies and gentlemen," Nick declared. "This is a Masked Singer first ... Mickey said, 'Dammit, it's hot. I'm taking it off.' I love it!"

Some watching at home, however, seemed bummed that no vote for Group B took place. "I'm mad. Really, really mad," one fan wrote in the comments section of the Youtube clip. "I'm sad that he [quit]. :( He was the first one to quit in Masked Singer History," another said. "😣 COME OOOONNNN, We didn't even vote!!!" a different fan complained.

Despite fan disappointment, Mickey made it clear that he had a blast being on the show.

"It was all fun, you know, 'cause I like the song so much. The panel is really cool, you know," Mickey explained after his big reveal. "It was just really upbeat."
