The Dance Theatre of Harlem performed in tribute to their neighborhood for an annual weeklong celebration in August.
In a virtual celebration of Harlem Week (August 16 – 23), the dancers donned face masks and leapt around the neighborhood, dancing at the City College of New York, the 145th and St. Nicholas subway station, Riverbank State Park, and the Adam Clayton Powell Jr State Office Building.
“Dancing Through Harlem” was produced and performed by Derek Brockington and Alexandra Hutchinson along with six other dancers from the company. The dancers are performing excerpts choreographed by Robert Garland, the theater said.
