Marvin Jones Jr. has 4-touchdown day in Lions' loss

If you played Detroit Lions receiver Marvin Jones Jr. in fantasy football today, congratulations.

Jones is the first player this season to post four receiving touchdowns in a game —matching the number of touchdowns he had in his previous 11 games combined.

The 29-year-old Jones had all four of the Lions’ touchdowns on Sunday, though Detroit did end up losing to the Minnesota Vikings, 42-30. His fourth score, with 3:05 to play in the game, pulled Detroit to within five, 35-30, but the two-point conversion try failed and the Vikings scored again to wrap up the victory.

Though Jones accounted for four scores, he didn’t rack up yards: Each of his touchdowns came in the red zone, and the longest of his 10 catches on the day was 24 yards. He totaled 93 yards.

Jones has been with Detroit since 2016. He now has 30 catches for 387 yards and five touchdowns.

A fifth-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in 2012, Jones previously had another 4-TD day: He also posted that many scores nearly six years ago to the day, in an eight-catch, 122-yard performance with Cincinnati against the New York Jets. The Bengals won that game, 49-9.
