Before Chadwick Boseman passed away—nearly a year ago now—he recorded his final lines as the superhero who impacted so many lives in our world: Black Panther. According to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, Boseman recorded lines for several episodes of Marvel's What... If? animated series across four separate sessions. “In hindsight, it’s very moving,” Feige said.

Now, thanks to a brand-new trailer for What If... (side note: Marvel is feeding its fans this week, between this trailer, Loki, and Black Widow), we have an extended look at Boseman's work in the show. But before we talk about that—you might be wondering, what is What...If? The series, as always, is based on a fan-favorite comic book property of the same name that shows alternate versions and outcomes for Marvel's biggest characters. In the Disney+ series, for example, we'll see a scenario where Tony Stark never was imprisoned overseas. Instead? Michael B. Jordan's Erik Killmonger saves him. Also, we'll watch Peggy Carter take up the mantle of Captain Britain, by the looks of the new trailer. Plus, the Guardians of the Galaxy fighting at the Battle of New York.

While all of that has us morbidly curious to check out What...If and its multiverse shenanigans, it's genuinely beautiful to see Boseman on screen again and hear him speak, even if it's in an animated form. By the looks of it, we'll see an alternate reality where T'Challa becomes a Ravager from The Guardians of the Galaxy series, teaming up with Yondu for assorted comic-book antics. Check out the end of the trailer to see the moment for yourself. What...If? hits Disney+ on August 11, 2021.
