One of the many emotionally satisfying payoffs in the final act of Avengers: Endgame last year was when Captain America, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), got to finally live out the quiet, happy life he always wanted with his sweetheart Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), before returning to the present day to bestow on his vibranium shield on his friend and fellow Avenger, Sam "Falcon" Wilson (Anthony Mackie). It represented both a symbolic and literal passing of the torch, with Rogers giving Wilson his blessing to carry on the legacy of Captain America.
Wilson's subsequent adventures in the MCU will be front and center in the new Disney+ series The Falcon & The Winter Soldier, in which he stars alongside Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes. And while the character is not yet using the name of Captain America, as is evident from the title, he is making use of that famous shield. And according to at least one fan online, he may have inherited another title originated by Steve Rogers: America's Ass.
It began as a gag during the time heist sequence in Endgame, which acknowledged both Chris Evans' sculpted glutes and at-times impractical superhero costume. Now, as eagle-eyed Twitter user Lia points out, the Falcon is sporting a pretty patriotic superbutt too.
The teaser trailer, which also included footage from Marvel's other Disney+ shows WandaVision and Loki, included a shot of somebody wearing the Captain America costume, although it's unclear whether this is taken from a flashback sequence set during Rogers' tenure as Cap, or whether Wilson or somebody else will be taking on the red, white and blue mantle.
