Martha Stewart Revealed She’s Recovering From Surgery In A New Instagram Post

Martha Stewart revealed on Instagram yesterday that she's currently recovering from surgery. The photo features her left leg wrapped up in a bandage and a caption explaining her injury.

"Not the prettiest photo nor the happiest back story. Bad timing all around," the food mogul started off. Martha then went on to explain the back story, saying she had ruptured her Achilles tendon a while ago.

After she "tried to get it to heal on its own to no avail," she went in for a three-hour surgery to repair it. Now, she's taking it easy and recuperating at home for the time being. Martha said it will likely take up to six weeks to be fully recovered before getting back on her feet as usual: "I have been ordered to lay still with leg elevated for two weeks. After that another two to four weeks of crutches. Then maybe some more normal activity."

Martha followed up the first photo with another Instagram post that showed her laying on a full-sized heating pad and an elevated foot which she said has particularly "restorative" qualities.

As for how she sustained the injury in the first place, it truly came from a chance accident. "Most such ruptures occur when dancing or playing sports. Mine was caused by a surprise step into a hole in the dark getting out of the car," Martha wrote.

Let's all send some good vibes and healing energy her way. Wishing you the best, Martha!
