Marsai Martin, Skai Jackson Take the “Don't Rush Challenge”

If you’ve turned to various TikTok challenges to pass the time while practicing social distancing, you’re definitely not alone — plenty of celebs have done the same. Over the weekend, Marsai Martin grabbed a bunch of her friends, including Storm Reid, Skai Jackson, Eris Baker, Riele Downs, Shahadi Wright Joseph, Kyla-Drew, and Lexi Underwood, to film their cozy take on the popular #DontRushChallenge, and the result is pretty incredible.

You’ve probably seen the trend circulating on TikTok, and it works like this: One friend starts off in loungewear before transforming into full glam, and then they “pass the torch” to another of their BFFs — usually by throwing a makeup brush or some other beauty product to the next person in the cycle.

The challenge, set to “Don’t Rush” by Young T & Bugsey ft. Headie One, was originally created by Twitter users @lase_asoloo, @0yindasola, @ur_gurl_iyesha, @SylviaKitenge, @Feranmiii_xo, @toni_aa, and @rellierevival, and has since been recreated on TikTok by dozens of other friend groups. (You can check out some of our faves here!)

Marsai’s version, however, reverses the order of things in honor of staying home and practicing social distancing. When we first see all the celebs, they are wearing cute ‘fits perfect for a day or night out with friends, but soon they switch into comfy clothes: sweatpants, hoodies, and pjs. “Don’t rush, stay home 😉” Marsai captioned her video on Instagram.

The #DontRushChallenge is definitely a great way to bond with your besties and feel like you’re “together” while staying apart. So what are you waiting for? Grab your phone and ring light, and start editing! Just remember — don’t rush, stay home.
