Married At First Sight UK fans please prepare yourself for some upsetting news: Matt Jameson and Daniel McKee have announced their split. Yep, I'm still shocked too.

The couple, who have been married for two years, announced the sad news on Instagram yesterday evening. The pair shared a joint statement confirming the breakup, and said they are better off as friends and will remain in each other lives.

They said: "Hey guys! As you all know, we have been on an incredible adventure together the last two years and we have given ourselves every opportunity to make things work as a couple, but over the last few months we have realised that we are actually better as friends.

"Break ups are never easy, even when amicable, but we can’t thank you enough for your support and kindness following our journey together.

"There’s nothing but love and good energy between us, and we feel very lucky to have found each other in our lives. Just sadly not as a couple! And although we are parting ways, we will always continue to support one another. Sending love to everyone. Dan and Matt xx."

Dan and Matt met when filming for the Married At First Sight UK 2021 series. They were paired up by relationship experts Mel Schilling, Paul C Brunson, and Charlene Douglas.

In the show the couple got married and though they had disagreements about where they wanted to live together, they were one of only two couples who stayed together after filming for the show ended.

After the show they moved to Dan's home of Portstewart in Northern Ireland, where they ran the Wildbay Retreats together.

Earlier this year the couple revealed their plans to have another wedding ceremony. In an interview with OK! Matt revealed they had been speaking to a wedding planner at one of their friend's weddings and it was definitely something they were thinking about doing.

He said: "I would love to do that. We were at one of Dan’s friend’s weddings recently and we got chatting with a wedding planner. It’s definitely something we’re thinking about. I would love it and I know Dan would as well. But we’re in no rush, we’re embracing what we have together right now. We’ve gone through this immensely intense experience."

Unfortunately it looks like we won't be getting that wedding now, but here's hoping Matt and Dan are both doing ok.
