Mark Consuelos Shares Secret to His Successful Marriage on Kelly Ripa’s New Podcast: ‘I Want to Be Married Forever’

Listen up, folks: Kelly Ripa is sharing never-before-heard details about her marriage to Mark Consuelos (and vice versa).

This week, the 52-year-old talk show host released the first episode of her all-new podcast, Let’s Talk Off Camera. (Watch the trailer here.)

The installment offered a glimpse into what Live with Kelly and Ryan will look like once Consuelos replaces Ryan Seacrest. Plus, it also explored the couple’s relationship, which they admit is far from perfect.

In the beginning of the episode, Ripa chatted with two of her colleagues—Albert and Jan—about their relationships. Then, she welcomed a special guest: her husband and “baby daddy” (her words, not ours), Consuelos.

While discussing their marriage, Consuelos admitted that they rushed into tying the knot. He said, “If you throw in the fact that we eloped and didn’t tell anybody for a month…”

Consuelos also revealed that the secret to their successful relationship is communication. This was especially useful when their kids moved out. “I’m a lifer. I want to be married forever,” Consuelos added. “But I think that once the distraction leaves, you are left with two people in the house.”

Ripa explained that their relationship is “like a heartbeat” because it’s constantly going up and down. (And she wouldn’t have it any other way.)

In the episode, Ripa also revealed why she’s launching a podcast. “I’ve been a talk show host for 23 years now, and the best conversations I have are when there’s not a camera involved,” she said. “Whether it’s backstage or it’s my dressing room or during a commercial break, that’s when we always get candid.”
