  • The Saved By the Bell star said "age ain't nothing but a number" while he took a breather from his boxing workout.

  • The 48-year-old said he works out six days a week to stay in tip-top shape.

At 48, Mario Lopez is feeling stronger than ever. The actor and television host celebrated his birthday on October 10 with a sweat session at the gym. And, according to his latest Instagram post of a photo taken post-workout, it looked pretty intense.

In the post, Lopez also opened up about aging. "48 years old today. Feeling strong, still," he said in the video. "Did like six rounds of sparring with these fools … That's what's up. Age ain't nothing but a number. Let's do this. Have a great day."

Both fans and celebrities flooded the post with birthday messages for the actor, including his wife Courtney Lopez who wrote, "I have the sexiest husband. Happy birthday baby. Love you more than you know. ♥️🎉🎁🥊."

Mark Wahlberg also added a string of emojis, ""🙌❤️🙌." And fan after fan commented on how great the Lopez looks, with one writing "Omg 48 🔥🔥🔥🔥."

It's clear that fitness is important to Lopez, and that he has a pretty intense workout routine. The actor previously opened up to Bodybuilding.com about what he does to stay in such amazing shape as he ages.

"Staying healthy is a top-of-mind thing for me. It's woven into my DNA," he said. The actor was inspired to stay active after playing sports as a kid. "I just feel I'm at my best at work and at play when I'm taking care of myself physically."

Today, he loves to box—like in his latest Instagram—lift weights, and run for cardio. Hitting the gym six days a week, Lopez likes to focus on key body parts such as his chest, arms, and back. "From one day to the next, you might find me in the squat rack working legs or in the middle of the ring sparring or swimming laps in the pool," he said.

"Each day I look for a challenge and get after it," he continued. "And I'm never satisfied, I think that helps. I always want to improve and get better."

Over the years, the actor said that the most important thing he changed about his fitness routine was that he became more educated about his body and how to best work various muscles. "About five years ago, I was introduced to fitness expert and author Jimmy Peña. Not only is Peña one of my best friends, he's taught me so much about training and nutrition," he said.

Overall, the actor stays motivated by doing workouts that he actually enjoys. "Find something you love to do and fight to improve each day. If you love to play at it, you'll work hard at it," he said.

We couldn't have said it better ourselves. Happy birthday, Mario!
