The warmer months are fast approaching, so if you haven’t stocked up on outdoor accessories, we’ve got the perfect fix for you, as West Elm has just unveiled its second collection with Finnish textile brand Marimekko.
Marimekko has made a name for itself with reliably zany patterns in consistently vibrant hues, from hot pinks to cobalt blues and just about everything in between. Its latest for West Elm, which follows a holiday collection with the retailer last year, is no exception. The textiles for this second collection are already fan-favorites, and include the flowery Primavera and more geometric Kaivo by designer Maija Isola, as well as the undulating Papaja by Annika Rimala. These patterns all date back to the ‘60s and ‘70s, and, in the case of Isola’s patterns, take inspiration from the great outdoors: Primavera is thought to have been born from a homesickness for her native Finland, and Kaivo’s circular shapes come from the ripples formed at the bottom of a well.
The new launch will include outdoor lounge chairs, bean bags, umbrellas, sling chairs, rugs, hammocks, coolers bags, doormats, pillows, and floor cushions, with prices starting at just $59 and scaling up to $1,399. Naturally, the limited-edition lineup can make its way indoors as well, should you need a bit of extra sunshine in your living room or lounge. On the other hand, there’s no more idyllic summer snapshot than lounging in a floral hammock by the pool.... with spritz in hand, obviously.
