  • Mariah Carey has come forward about an experience she had with Ellen DeGeneres while appearing on her show.

  • Ellen questioned Mariah repeatedly, asking if she was pregnant or not, but Mariah had just suffered a miscarriage.

Sure, celebrities might be coming forward to defend Ellen DeGeneres amid her toxic work environment allegations, but one singer is letting her true feelings about Ellen be known— Miss Mariah Carey. Back in 2008, Mariah appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Ellen repeatedly questioned Mariah on if she was pregnant or not. Naturally, the entire situation was really awkward to watch, but it was even more uncomfortable for Mariah to deal with.

"I can't believe you did this to me, Ellen," Mariah said at the time. "This is peer pressure. What Ellen is doing, this is peer pressure."

"Let's toast to you not being pregnant," Ellen replied, insisting that they drink champagne to celebrate her not being pregnant. Mariah took a very small sip of the champagne, which prompted Ellen to say "you're pregnant!" which Mariah denied.

In an interview with Vulture, Mariah reflect on that moment and said it was incredibly difficult for her to deal with because she had just lost a baby.

"I was extremely uncomfortable with that moment is all I can say. And I really have had a hard time grappling with the aftermath," she said. "I wasn’t ready to tell anyone because I had had a miscarriage. I don’t want to throw anyone that’s already being thrown under any proverbial bus, but I didn’t enjoy that moment."

Mariah also added that there's "an empathy that can be applied to those moments that I would have liked to have been implemented. But what am I supposed to do?"

Earlier in the month, Katy Perry, Kevin Hart, and Jerry O'Connell came to Ellen's defense and said she's always treated them nicely, but I'm pretty sure iff they had an experience like Mariah's, they'd be saying otherwise. Until the next cringe-worthy update in the Ellen saga!
