Margaret Qualley Stands with FKA Twigs amid Shia LaBeouf Abuse Lawsuit

Margaret Qualley is showing her support for FKA Twigs in the midst of Twigs's lawsuit against ex-boyfriend Shia LaBeouf, whom the singer has accused of emotional and physical abuse.

The Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood actress, who was dating LaBeouf at the time Twigs revealed her abuse claims to The New York Times back in December, shared an image of Twigs's recent ELLE magazine cover to her Instagram. In the cover story, Twigs detailed more of the abuse she endured from LaBeouf and grimly stated that it was simply "pure luck" that she was able to escape the relationship. Twigs also described LaBeouf's tactics utilized to control their relationship as "calculated, systematic, tricky, and mazelike."

Qualley's sharing of the cover image to her Instagram spoke volumes, even though her caption alongside the image itself was brief. "Thank you," Qualley wrote.

Qualley and LaBeouf ended their relationship in January, according to People. "They're just in different places in their lives," said a source at the time.

LaBeouf did address Twigs's allegations following the lawsuit filing, telling the New York Times in a statement, "I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behavior made them feel. I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say."

"I am not cured of my PTSD and alcoholism," the actor added. "But I am committed to doing what I need to do to recover, and I will forever be sorry to the people that I may have harmed along the way."

Twigs opened up more about her relationship with LaBeouf with Gayle King on CBS This Morning last week. When King asked Twigs the taboo question of why she didn't leave LaBeouf after recognizing concerning behavior from the actor, the musician gave a confident and firm response.

"I think we just have to stop asking that question," said Twigs. "I know that you're asking it out of love, but I'm just gonna make a stance and say that I'm not gonna answer that question anymore because the question should really be to the abuser, 'Why are you holding someone hostage with abuse?' You know?"
