Happy National BBQ Month!

(Yes, that's a thing.)

With nothing but warm weather and long days ahead, May is the perfect time to break out your grill, invite some friends over, and enjoy one of America's favorite pastimes. Brisket and chicken wings and sausage—oh my! There are so many mouthwatering meat options to choose from, and even more ways to cook them all. Of course, this kind of variety lends itself to folks having a lot of opinions about the best type of barbecue.

First, let's talk about the most common BBQ styles: Texas style, Kansas City style, Memphis style, North Carolina style, and South Carolina style. Also known as "The Big 5," these regional methods for cookin' up meat are all delicious in their own way. Some favor slow-and-low smoking, while others prefer to fire up the grill. Where one style wants sweet molasses sauce, another swears by using mustard. There's no real right or wrong answer about which is the best—so we'll have to settle for knowing which style people eat the most.
