Every Thanksgiving, people across the country make a big ol' fuss about the bird. Look, we get it—the holiday is nicknamed "turkey day," after all. And there's no doubt that it's a crucial part of every Thanksgiving menu. (Weighing in at 20-plus pounds, how could it not be?!) But we're not here to talk about the turkey. No, we're here to discuss the real star of Thanksgiving: The pies.

Have you ever met anyone who says they don't like pie? No, you haven't, because everyone loves pie. Apple pie, pumpkin pie, pecan pie—there's a pie for every palette! But which pie takes the cake...pie? GE decided to find out, and surveyed 1,550 people across the continental United States to discover which flavor of pie holds the biggest piece of America's heart. (Okay, okay—we're done with the pie puns!)

Pumpkin, the pie that's best known for its role on Thanksgiving, was the clear winner across most of the country. Apple pie is the favorite of East Coasters, which you'll understand if you've ever tried a New York apple. Ree Drummond's home state of Oklahoma was one of the few that solely prefer pecan pie, while other Southern states couldn't decide between that and apple.

If this information has you ready to battle the other residents of your state over pie preferences, just wait until you see the map that shows America's favorite Thanksgiving side dishes. (Mashed potatoes are the most important side and that's not up for debate. Sorry!)
