The Mandalorian season 2 episode 6 spoilers follow.

We're not crying, you're crying! Okay, so before we delve into this week's episode of The Mandalorian, we need you all to stop hyperventilating for a second and look at the bigger picture. Yes, Grogu Baby Yoda has been kidnapped by Moff Gideon, and yes, this adorable macaroon-loving ball of perfection may soon turn to the Dark Side, but hey, at least Boba Fett is back.

Not quite the trade-off we were hoping for, but still, the bounty hunter's return is a huge deal, confirming not one but two major fan theories all at once.

So how did we get to this point? 'The Tragedy' starts off in deceptively light fashion with Mando and Grogu just hanging out, playing ball on the ship. Upon arriving at Typhon, though, the brown stuff quickly hits the fan when Baby Yoda fires up his Force magic, creating an impenetrable force-field the Mandalorian can't enter.

That's not so bad though, right? Well, that would have been all fine and dandy if a certain ship hadn't just arrived...

Yep, five episodes later, The Mandalorian has now confirmed that Temuera Morrison's cameo in the season two premiere was indeed setting up the return of Boba Fett. Remember him? He's the guy who "died" a very embarrassing death back in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.

Clearly, Boba Fett is now alive and well, eager to retrieve the armour Cobb Vanth gave Mando back in the first episode of season two. Over these past five weeks, we all assumed that Temuera Morrison's earlier cameo signalled Boba's return, but there was a small chance that this version could still be a clone or perhaps even someone else entirely.

Very quickly, this latest episode confirms that Temuera's return as Boba is in fact the real deal, and that's not all. During this initial encounter, another familiar face returns in the form of Fennec Shand, a kickass mercenary we last saw in 'Chapter 5: The Gunslinger'.

But how did Ming-Na Wen's character end up working alongside Boba Fett? The answer to that is wrapped up in another fan theory which takes us all the way back to season one.

In the fifth episode of The Mandalorian, Din Djarin met a bounty hunter named Toro, and together, they tried to capture Fennec for a job. Without going into too much detail, things got messy, and by the end of the episode, Fennec was shot and left for dead. But of course, she wasn't left behind at all. In the final scene, a mysterious figure approached Fennec's 'corpse' and knelt beside it...

So who was this person and why did they want to help Fennec? Was she even alive still? In the following episode, no reference was made to this mystery, which continued to remain unanswered right up until what just happened in Chapter 14. Thanks to this latest episode, we now know that Fennec was rescued by Boba Fett, who helped fix her injuries with some cybernetic implants.

Funnily enough, fans have long suspected this to be the case anyway. When Boba approached Fennec's unconscious body, viewers could hear a jangling sound which was extremely reminiscent of the noise Boba Fett made when he walked in The Empire Strikes Back.

So it's safe to say that both of these revelations probably won't come as much of a surprise to diehard fans. Plenty of articles and forums have long suspected that Boba Fett was key to both mysteries, but still, it's extremely gratifying to see this Star Wars legend finally redeem himself on screen.

Instead of just standing around and looking cool, this Boba tears through stormtroopers even before he retrieves his armour. It looks like everyone's favourite bounty hunter learned a thing or two down in that Sarlacc pit.

While a small part of us does worry that The Mandalorian's second season has become too obsessed with fan service, we're far too worried about Baby Yoda to dwell on that for long. Now excuse us while we go scream at our TVs and pray to Disney for Grogu's safe return...
