Man pulls off 'amazing' surprise to ask brother with Down syndrome if he'll be his best man: ‘He had no clue’
A 24-year-old man is going viral for the heartwarming surprise he planned for his younger brother.
Will Claussen is getting married in July of 2021. To him, there was no way that anyone besides his brother Henry would be his best man.
“He has the sweetest soul and has never said a bad word about anyone so it was a no brainer for him to be my best man,” Will told In The Know.

Henry, who is 22, has Down syndrome, and Will says was the “first” person to understand his brother when he spoke. Now, the two are inseparable.
So when it came to asking Henry to be his best man, Will needed to make the moment count. He ended up planning a surprise that’s now gone viral across social media platforms and plenty of mainstream news outlets.
In a video he shared on Instagram, the 24-year-old hid a message in a bottle for his brother. While working with a metal detector in their yard, Henry came across it.
That message, full of love and praise, was Will’s way of “proposing” to Henry. As the 22-year-old realized what was happening, he leaped into his brother’s arms and embraced him.
The note read: “Henry Joe, you are already the BEST bro, and my very BEST frand, so will you please say yes and be my BEST man?”
The clip has been viewed more than 45,000 times on Instagram, with commenters sharing all kinds of support for the “amazing” moment.
“THIS IS AMAZING! In a world full of so much anger and hate towards one another, this post restores my faith in humanity,” one user wrote.
“his is the most beautiful video ever. I’ve watched it so many times already and I’ve cried each time,” another added.
Will told In The Know that seeing the response to his video has been “absolutely nuts.”
“Henry and I are very humbled by all the kind words and comments to the point where it’s been hard to wrap our head around. We are grateful,” he added.
As for the idea? Will said that came from an actual proposal plan, which he’d originally schemed up for his now-fiancée. After that fell through, he saved the proposal for his brother. In his mind, it worked out perfectly.
“He loves metal detecting so I knew this was a no brainer and he had no clue it was coming,” Will added.
