Muscleups are a top-tier bodyweight move that can take weeks or even months of training to master. CrossFitter and former gymnastics champion David Durante has even described them as "the highest-level version of any pull" out there, with perfect technique required. All of which is to say, being able to perform one rep with decent form is an accomplishment. To be able to do more reps in a row than anyone else? That makes you the GOAT.

Belarusian athlete Maksim Trukhonovets officially set a Guinness World Record for the most consecutive muscleups in the male category back in March of 2018, when he performed 26 clean reps in a minute and a half. And he has just broken his own record, improving on his own performance with 32 reps in two minutes and 46 seconds.

New to muscleups? You can start out with the TRX variation of the exercise, which recruits the lower body to lend assistance to the movement and allow you to perform a higher number of reps.

You shouldn't really be trying the O.G. muscleup if you're not already doing your pullups: you need to be able to get your chin above the bar with relative ease before attempting to raise your entire upper body in the eventual movement. David Durante recommends beginning with a series of activation warmups and which focus on perfecting the movement pattern element of the muscleup, rather than strength, before then graduating to progressions which increase in difficulty.

"Anytime we can take some of the strength out and we can focus completely on the movement pattern and better ranges of motion, it's going to give your body a better understanding of how to do it naturally without you having to think about a thousand cues at the same time," he explains.
