When you want a tropical cocktail that will instantly transport you to an island, you reach for Malibu Rum. In early 2020, the brand released Splash, a line of canned drinks that combined passion fruit, lime, pineapple and strawberry flavors with coconut. Then, in February 2021, Malibu unveiled a watermelon-flavored rum. Now, Splash and watermelon have come together to create the new Malibu Watermelon Splash.

While Malibu hasn’t listed the new offering on its website or announced the sparkling malt beverage yet, it appears that it started popping up in liquor stores in July 2021, as scene in Instagram photos. Something different about this flavor, however, is that it only says indicates watermelon on the can, not coconut as well like the other Splash cans. Since Malibu is a coconut rum, we’re guessing there’s still that coconut flavor, but the packaging has been switched up.

Just like the flavors before it, the Malibu Watermelon Splash come in 12-ounce cans with 5% ABV. While distribution isn’t clear, plenty of people have already found it at their local liquor store, as well as spots like Food Lion, so you just might have some luck.

If you’re still wondering about how this flavor really tastes, people have reviewed the sip on Untappd, a geosocial networking service for those who love to talk about boozy beverages. The consensus there is that the drink has a “Nice refreshing melon burst.” Sounds like summer isn’t over just yet!
